Elderly Man with Terminal Cancer Walks Out of Hospice after Treatment with Cannabis Oil

by PAUL FASSA

“After nine months of taking two different forms of cannabis oil, one, a cannabis capsule infused with organic coconut oil around 10:30am and high THC oil about an hour before bed, dad was given the life changing report, ”No evidence of recurrent disease”.
– Corinne Malanca (Stan and Barb Rutner’s daughter)

Stan Found Cannabis after Chemo and Radiation Almost Killed Him

The trillion dollar burn, cut, poison, Cancer Industrial Complex boldly proclaims that chemotherapy and radiation routinely save lives – that their toxic interventions boost long-term survival rates and the biggest lie of all: chemo and radiation exclusively target cancerous cells and leave healthy cells alone.
All these statements by the cancer industry are patently false. Poison is poison; it kills indiscriminately. Chemo and radiation are poisons posing as medicine. In fact, mainstream cancer “treatment” is the leading cause of secondary cancers.

Dave Mihalovic a Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in vaccine research, cancer prevention and a holistic approach to cancer treatment stated:
“No chemotherapy drug has ever actually cured or resolved the underlying causes of cancer. Even what mainstream medicine considers “successful” chemotherapy treatments are only managing symptoms, usually at the cost of interfering with other precious physiological functions in patients that will cause side effects down the road.”
Ironically, when chemo is killing cancer cells, it’s also stimulating healthy cells to produce a protein that supports tumor growth and makes the cells resistant to further cancer treatment.

Researchers Discover One of the Ways Chemo Enhances Cancer Growth

“The scientists found that healthy cells damaged by chemotherapy secreted more of a protein called WNT16B which boosts cancer cell survival.
“The increase in WNT16B was completely unexpected,” study co-author Peter Nelson of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle told AFP.
The protein was taken up by tumor cells neighboring the damaged cells.
“WNT16B, when secreted, would interact with nearby tumor cells and cause them to grow, invade, and importantly, resist subsequent therapy,” said Nelson.
In cancer treatment, tumors often respond well initially, followed by rapid regrowth and then resistance to further chemotherapy.”

The Stan Rutner Story

Stan and Barbara Rutner are a devoted, couple who have been together 59 years. They both have hard-won experience battling cancer. Roughly 25 years ago, Stan, a retired dentist with a lucrative mini-storage business was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, while Barb had successfully battled breast cancer twice. Stan remembers:”I just thought I had a cold, flu, type thing. That was it . . . I wasn’t thinking cancer at all.”
After six months of aggressive, standard allopathic, treatment, Stan’s cancer was in remission – that was back in 1989. Meanwhile, Stan had moved on with his life; his bout with cancer faded into the deep dark recesses of his memory. Of course, Stan didn’t expect after all those years of remission he’d be fighting cancer again in 2011 but as mentioned above that’s not uncommon for those who undergo conventional cancer treatment. His initial symptom this time was a persistent cough, otherwise he seemed fine.
Somewhat concerned he made a doctor’s appointment. The initial diagnosis was early stage pneumonia. The doctor noted that there were some unusual looking spots on his lungs that needed follow-up, after the pneumonia had cleared. Numerous tests later and revealed the “spots” were cancerous nodes in the lungs. But there’s more. Stan’s final diagnosis: Stage 4 Lung Cancer with Metastasis to the Brain. Stan recalled how his doctor broke the news, ‘You’re in deep shit.’ Stan explained. “Yeah, he didn’t sugar coat it at all.” But it gets worse much worse. Down the road doctors discovered that the cancer had metastasized to his brain.

Stan’s Health and Quality of life Rapidity Declined

This time, the chemotherapy and radiation, really took a heavy toll on Stan. Shortly after treatment began [march-April of 2012] Stan was plagued with debilitating fatigue, wasting away, weight loss and chronic nausea. Not a pretty picture especially for someone pushing 80.

Barb Rutner: “After that he was wiped out. He was very thin. So we finished radiation to his brain on June 25, and on July 13 he entered the hospital for the first time with radiation pneumonitis (inflammation of the lungs due to radiation therapy), so pneumonia. There were three hospital visits during that time, and on the third they kept him for a week and started him on oxygen 24/7. And then he went into palliative care.”

Stan’s doctors gave him only weeks to live and ordered him to hospice, which he entered on August 12, 2011

The Rutners also used alternative treatments to ease Stan’s suffering and perhaps stall his “inevitable” death sentence. Stan tried Reiki energy treatments and acupuncture. He even attempted creative visualization but it wasn’t his thing and it didn’t really help him, although Barb had success with it when she was fighting breast cancer. Stan’s downward spiral continued unabated and time was running out. That’s when Corrine – Stan and Barb’s daughter and Corinne’s soon to be husband, John Malanca started researching cannabis as a possible treatment option for Stan.

Barb explains: “Corinne and John were becoming interested in medicinal marijuana but we were concerned that Stan was wasting away. He had lost so much weight and so we were anxious to get his appetite improved and help him with the nausea. So Corinne suggested daytime cannabis capsule infused with coconut oil; they’re yellow capsules that he started taking. He started taking those in early November of 2011 and in the beginning, he took about a third of a capsule in the morning, and it was about a week or two later that he was able to give up the extra oxygen that he had had 24/7.”

Stan was ready to try cannabis – he realized better than anyone else that he had nothing to lose and maybe a lot to gain.

Stan stated: “No hesitation at all. Here I’m dying and getting nothing to change the course of things and so this thing has a pretty good track record in—what do you call it—in a non-medical world, so hey let’s try it. Got nothing to lose.”

Stan’s Amazing Turnaround

Bingo! Within a couple of weeks of starting cannabis, Stan’s condition was improving in all ways. He started gaining weight, his sleep improved, he was regaining his strength. Eventually he ditched his walker, dumped his oxygen and started exercise classes. Barb described his progress as remarkable.

After several months of Cannabis Stan decided to get an MRI to check his progress

Barb: “On January 27, 2013 we received the results of Stan’s brain MRI in an email from his oncologist, stating simply: “IMPRESSION: No evidence of recurrent disease.” The lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain in the summer of 2011 (and nearly taken his life) was GONE! The doctor calls him a miracle man. We are deeply grateful to his “team” of doctors, friends and family, but we’ll always believe that cannabis turned the tide.”

Cannabis oil cured my bowel cancer, claims father, 33, 'given just 18 months to live'

  • David Hibbitt was diagnosed in 2012 after initially being told he had piles
  • Underwent chemo, radiotherapy and surgery but was told he was terminal
  • Desperate, he researched online and bought cannabis oil, at £50 a month
  • Credits it with his remarkable recovery and is now cancer-free

A bowel cancer patient told he had just 18 months to live claims he has been cured by cannabis oil.
David Hibbitt, 33, was diagnosed with the disease in July 2012 and underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery to remove his large bowel.
Doctors told him the cancer was terminal - so he decided to try cannabis oil as a last resort and bought it from a local dealer for £50 a gram.
Now the father-of-one says he has been cancer-free since his last scan in January  - and puts the class-B drug down to his miracle recovery.
David Hibbitt, 33, claims doctors said he had between 18 months and five years to live after being diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer.
In desperation, he tried cannabis oil, which he now credits with his recovery

He is now looking forward to the future after tying the knot with his partner of six years Heather Martin, 26, at a registry office today.
Mr Hibbitt, from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, said: 'Friends had told me about cannabis oil and I dismissed it at first. I've never been into drugs.
'But in February last year I was told I only had 18 months to five years to live, and I felt I had to try everything I could.
'I felt like the chemo was killing me and I had nothing to lose. I couldn't accept I was going to die.'
After going online to research his options, he discovered a lot of information about cannabis oil - and decided to try it.
'I pay around £50 for a gram from a bloke I know who makes it,' he said. 'That lasts me about a month usually.
'It gets your pretty high and knocks you for six, but it's nowhere near as bad as chemotherapy.
'The pain just seemed to disappear and it seems to have done the job.
'I just want to make other people aware that there are other options out there.'
Mr Hibbitt was diagnosed with stage-three bowel cancer after initially being told he was suffering from piles.
Mr Hibbitt, with fiance Heather, said: 'I felt like the chemo was killing me
and I had nothing to lose. I couldn't accept I was going to die'

After undergoing treatment at the Christie Hospital, in Manchester, the cancer returned and he had another operation in July 2013 followed by more chemotherapy.
He was given the all-clear before Christmas that year, but a month later he found a lump, and was told the cancer was in the lymph nodes in his groin.
Mr Hibbitt, who works in advertising, added: 'This time they told me there wasn't a lot they could do.
'In July, after doing a lot of research, I got some cannabis oil. I was having chemo, and I was getting to a point where I couldn't really do much, I had no energy.
'In August I decided I'd had enough and I was going to stop the chemotherapy.
In October, he had an operation to remove the affected lymph nodes at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
But he chose to carry on taking cannabis oil rather than have any more treatment, deciding against further chemotherapy sessions.
Following a scan in January he was given the all-clear - paving the way for him to organise his wedding.
Mr Hibbitt, who has a five-year-old son, Ashton, said: 'We never thought this would happen, it's great. Fingers crossed now I will grow old.
'I feel really good and I hope my story will help other people.'
His fiancee Heather, a nursery nurse, said: 'I didn't want him to take the cannabis oil at first because it's illegal, but I saw the change in him and slowly got used to it.
'He is a determined person and did a lot of research. He wanted to live.
'We are all amazed how well he's done. I can't see my life without him. We have come through a hell of a lot.'
Describing the effects of cannabis oil, he said: 'It gets your pretty high and knocks you for six, but it's nowhere near as bad as chemotherapy. The pain just seemed to disappear. I just want to make other people aware that there are other options out there'

Cancer Research UK says it is aware of patients using cannabis extracts to treat themselves but stressed there is 'no good evidence' to prove it was safe and effective.
The charity is supporting clinical trials into the use of the drug and a synthetic cannabinoid to treat the disease.
Dr Kat Arney, from Cancer Research UK, said: 'We know that cannabinoids - the active chemicals found in cannabis - can have a range of different effects on cancer cells grown in the lab and animal tumours.
'But at the moment there isn't good evidence from clinical trials to prove that they can safely and effectively treat cancer in patients.
'Despite this, some cancer patients do choose to treat themselves with cannabis extracts.
'Researchers are collecting patients' experiences to build a picture of whether these treatments are helping or not, although this is weak evidence compared to properly-run clinical trials.

'Cancer Research UK is supporting clinical trials for treating cancer with cannabinoid-based drugs in order to gather solid data on whether they benefit people with cancer.'

CANNABIS OIL CURES TERMINAL CANCER IN 3-YEAR-OLD AFTER PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS FAIL MISERABLY

A 3 year-old Utah boy, diagnosed with leukemia and told by doctors that he had mere days to live, is now alive and well not because he continued his chemotherapy, but because he obtained cannabis oil treatment instead.
The family, fed up with the fact that the only treatment doctors could recommend was chemotherapy–even after little Landon Riddle kept vomiting dozens of times daily and refused to eat after two months of chemo–looked into cannabis oil treatment. After reading up about it online and researching the details, they traveled to Colorado where such a treatment is legal, to help Landon.
“His whole chest was full of leukemia tumors which is why he couldn’t breathe,” says his mother, Sierra. “They started him on chemo, but told us that he probably wasn’t going to make it. We discussed all of our concerns with his medical team in Utah and watched Landon continue to suffer and wither away as the piled on drug after drug.” But rather than give in to a death sentence and play into Big Pharma’s only recommendation, Landon began cannabis oil treatments. The results have been incredible.
Within just days of the treatment, Landon showed signs of improvement. Instead of withering away, his appetite surged and his vomiting lessened. He rebounded, and as explained on a CNN video, is still cancer-free even months later.

THE SAD THREAT TO TAKE A SICK CHILD AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY

Still, serious issues loom over the family, including their concern that Landon might be taken out of their custody. The video, which can be viewed in this article here, explains that the family was initially given an ultimatum: continue years of chemo and steroid treatments or refuse it, and potentially have Landon removed from their care. A lawyer willing to take on the case stepped in, expressing his thoughts that there is nothing detrimental about the family’s intentions.
And so the cannabis treatment continued, although it should be noted the chemotherapy didn’t entirely cease. He still receives treatments, but just once monthly as opposed to the more frequent doses. Sierra is desperately trying to find an oncologist who will allow cannabis treatments only, but has yet to find one willing to do so.
We all know why. If the medical profession were to get on board with cannabis oil treatments and other natural methods of curing the sick, billions of Big Pharma dollars go down the drain. It would be a huge industry shake-up where pharma jobs would go by the wayside, money lost, and credentials questioned. So medical experts, for the most part, tip-toe around the issue, saying–at best–that it should be used as a complementary approach to more accepted traditional treatment methods such as chemotherapy.

BIG ORGANIZATIONS AGAINST CANNABIS TREATMENTS DESPITE GROWING EVIDENCE THAT IT HEALS PEOPLE

In a statement issued to CNN by the American Cancer Society regarding Landon Riddle’s story, the avoid-cannabis-for-improved-health mentality is blatantly obvious. They stated in the same aforementioned video that “there is no available scientific evidence from controlled studies in humans that cannabinoids can cure or treat cancer.” That, despite the fact that Dr. Julie Holland, editor of “The Pot Book,” says, “It turns out, it actually fights the cancer itself.” That, despite the fact that numerous findings have emerged showing that cannabis compounds kill cancer cells in mice and in humans. That, despite Landon’s amazing recovery.
Landon’s story isn’t the first time cannabis oil has been eyed as helping those with serious conditions heal. For example, Natural News recently reported on the story of 33-year-old David Hibbitt, a U.K. resident who was diagnosed with bowel cancer and given 18 months to live. However, he took therapeutic doses of cannabis oil to the tune of a very affordable $75 monthly and guess what? He eliminated his cancer.
What’s it going to take for the mainstream medical world to fight more for human health rather than Big Pharma greed? It’s time for the blinders to come off and the money-hungry mind sets to end.

Cannabis for Chemotherapy

By Gooey Rabinski

Most people understand that chemotherapy is a common treatment for cancer, a condition that afflicts 1.6 million Americans each year, killing 600,000 during the same period. However, many don’t fully understand exactly what chemotherapy (also known as “chemo”) really involves and the side effects it delivers to patients.
This is especially significant due to the fact that, unknown to most Americans, chemotherapy is used to treat patients of many diseases other than cancer. These include multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and evenpsoriasis, among others.
Medically speaking, the side effects of chemotherapy include a decrease in the production of blood cells within the bones (myelosuppression), inflammation of the lining of the digestive tract (mucositis), and hair loss (alopecia). In terms of patient suffering, chemotherapy brings on severe nausea, vomiting, and dry heaves, in addition to a slew of other negative side effects.

Frightening History

The concept of chemotherapy emerged during World War II, when doctors noted that soldiers who had been exposed to mustard gas had low white blood counts. It just so happens that white blood cells behave in a manner very similar to cancer cells; both multiply rapidly. Surmising that the low blood counts were the result of the mustard gas, doctors began experimenting with cancer patients by injecting them with mustard gas in an effort to kill their cancer.

Not killing the patient with the treatment: This is the real, ironic, and very grim challenge of chemotherapy. However, when one supplements chemotherapy with cannabis, in whatever form, it can significantly decrease a patient’s suffering as a result of the side effects of these powerful drugs while simultaneously employing marijuana cannabinoids and terpenes to fight the disease requiring the chemotherapy in the first place.
In many respects, chemotherapy is a very crude treatment therapy. It is administered to patients who are already suffering from a severe and potentially terminal disease, along with the stress and anxiety associated with such a realization. Many patients, when faced with the symptoms of cancer and the side effects of the chemotherapy so commonly used to combat it, become unable to work, socialize, or properly care for children. Often, they slide into depression or alcoholism, worsening their condition and decreasing their chance of overcoming the disease.

Killing Good and Bad Cells

The problem with chemotherapy, of course, is that it employs harsh pharmaceutical drugs with the purpose of killing cancer cells that rapidly divide and expand their territory (such drugs are categorized as cytotoxic). Unfortunately, these aren’t “smart” drugs that can distinguish between the body’s good cells that behave in this manner and the cancer cells that threaten their life.
Because of the blind cellular-level killing spree pursued by conventional chemotherapy drugs, they also damage healthy cells in other parts of the body, including bone marrow, the gastrointestinal tract, and — probably most famously — a patient’s hair follicles. While the loss of one’s hair, especially for females, is a red flag to the world that they are undergoing chemotherapy, what those around them do not see is the damage being inflicted on their bones, blood, and various organs of their body with each chemotherapy treatment.
cancer-and-medical-marijuana-1
A new category of anti-cancer drug has emerged, called targeted therapy, that is not so indiscriminate in its destruction of quickly multiplying cells. New drugs like monoclonal antibodies target proteins that are abnormally expressed in cancer cells (and critical for their successful growth and spread). Despite potentially fewer negative side effects, like damage to bone marrow and the resulting decreased blood count, patients of these leading edge pharmaceutical drugs that are entering the world of chemotherapy still suffer from debilitating nausea, vomiting, and dry heaves — often for hours on end.

How Cannabis Helps

Cannabis can help relieve the often debilitating negative side effects of chemotherapy treatment. First and foremost, it is one of the best anti-nausea medications known to humans. According to oncology social worker Wendy Gwinner:
“[Cannabis] is far and away the best medication that we have for chronic wasting and for increasing appetite in cancer patients.”
Dr. Jack Hensold is an oncologist who has recommended cannabis to his cancer patients as a last resort when conventional opiates didn’t work and his patients were suffering from the extreme nausea of chemotherapy. “There’s probably nothing that works as well for appetite stimulation that we have as marijuana,” he said, stressing that, while there are effective anti-cancer drugs for which he is a strong advocate, no pharmaceutical treatment is as good at stimulating appetite as marijuana.
Second, cannabis acts as an anti-inflammatory, meaning it can decrease suffering due to the inflammation of the digestive tract. To learn more about how cannabis can be used to treat conditions involving gastrointestinal inflammation, check out “Cannabis Cures Crohn’s” and “Does Cannabis Treat IBS?”
cannabis for chemotherapy
In addition to successfully alleviating nausea and vomiting and stimulating appetite, cannabis is also effective in helping cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy to deal with pain and diarrhea. But probably more important is how it can effectively treat depression and anxiety, two potentially severe conditions that can be a knockout blow to a patient already suffering from the psychological and physical ravages of cancer — not to mention the distress of undergoing chemotherapy.
Patients who prefer not to smoke have the option of vaporizing either raw cannabis flowers or concentrates like oils (BHO, CO2, and live resin). Another popular option is edibles. Some companies are helping patients explore new ways of allowing their bodies to absorb the cannabinoids from marijuana, including topical creams and ointments, sublingual sprays (which feature much faster absorption than edibles), and suppositories.

Cannabis for Cancer

This article doesn’t go into detail regarding how the various cannabinoids and terpenes in cannabis have been shown to kill cancer by shrinking tumors (for this info, see “Cancer and Medical Marijuana,” “CBD-A: Cannabidiol Acid Cannabinoid Profile,” and “Pinene: Cancer-Killing, Memory Enhancing Terpene“). However, each week, more and more cancer patients — many of whom have self-medicated with cannabis or cannabis oil with, or without, the approval of their doctors — are providing personal testimonies of how cannabis not only helped alleviate the symptoms of conventional treatments like chemotherapy, but also shrank their tumors or put their cancer into full, long-term remission.
In other words, anecdotal reports from patients throughout North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe are showing that cannabis, especially when processed as a concentrate (typically an oil or tincture), may, in many patients, cure cancer. It should be noted that many who choose to treat their cancer with something like a cannabis oil do so only after all other treatment approaches have been exhausted, often after doctors have delivered the dreadful news that no cancer patient wants to hear: “There’s nothing else we can do.”
Sharon Kelly is a 54-year-old British woman who, in 2013, contracted lung cancer. Doctors informed Kelly that her cancer had progressed to her lymph nodes and the lining of her stomach; she was already at Stage 4. She also had a 5 cm tumor on her left lung (see below). Kelly was told that chemotherapy and radiation weren’t valid treatment options for a lung cancer patient at this stage of progression and would simply make her more sick. Doctors predicted that she had six to nine months to live. They said there was nothing else they could do.
cancer-and-medical-marijuana-6
When researching the disease, Kelly’s daughter learned about the efficacy of cannabis oil and how it had worked for many other cancer patients. Kelly began taking the oil on a daily basis, consuming two grams per day and adopting a healthy, alkalizing diet (involving no red meat, dairy, bread, or sugar). After a few months, Kelly’s tumor had decreased to less than half its original size and her lymph nodes were back to normal.
After continuing the cannabis oil treatment and diet for seven months — with no other medical therapy or drug — Kelly was tested as cancer-free in September 2014. She has remained so to this day.

Why Chemo Patients Schould Use Cannabis

Those undergoing chemotherapy for whatever reason, be it cancer or Crohn’s or severe arthritis, can gain significant relief if they do nothing more than smoke, vaporize, or eat cannabis prior to their sessions. Because most chemotherapy patients are treating cancer, cannabis delivers the dual advantages of eliminating nausea and vomiting while also fighting cancer cells and reducing the size of tumors.
medical-marijuana-and-asthma-2
While difficult, and illegal, for those living in prohibitionist states that don’t offer their citizens medical or recreational cannabis legalization, the many pronounced benefits of cannabis for cancer and it’s most common treatment, chemotherapy, are undeniable. All cancer and chemotherapy patients should seriously consider the benefits of the herb and how it can dramatically improve their quality of life, giving them renewed energy and a positive attitude to better combat their disease.
The sad reality is that additional research, especially in the form of human trials, is necessary to learn more about how the miracle molecules in cannabis, cannabinoids and terpenes, are able to relieve the symptoms of a variety of cancer treatments and even put cancer into remission. Until cannabis is moved out of the list of Schedule I drugs maintained by the federal government and the DEA as part of the antiquated Controlled Substances Act from the 1970s, valid studies will be stimied in the U.S. and occur only in other countries.

A Mother’s Fight For Medical Marijuana Helped Save This Child From Cancer

On September 30, 2012, Sierra Riddle’s life was turned upside down when her 2-year-old son, Landon, was diagnosed with Leukemia and given an 8 to 10 percent chance to live past the next 24 to 48 hours.
“It was the absolute most terrifying day of my life,” Riddle wrote on Landon’s blog.
For the next four months, Landon would be subjected to rounds of chemotherapy, drugs and the side-effects of treating his cancer. Just 30 days after he started chemo, Landon’s physical appearance and quality of life changed.
Riddle was forced to watch her son vomit 30 to 50 times per day, withstand a 25 day food strike and spend holiday after holiday in a hospital room, as she and her family prayed for a miracle that would save her son.
Finally, in January of 2013, their prayers seemed to be answered.
“We discussed all of our concerns with his medical team in Utah and watched Landon continue to suffer and wither away as the piled on drug after drug,” Riddle said. “Then my mother came across cannabis oil online.”
Landon’s grandmother, who had always been against drugs, spent hours researching cures for cancer and eventually found enough information to convince her daughter to at least try the cannabis to help Landon.
However, living in Utah at the time, Riddle knew discussing cannabis use as part of her son’s treatment with his medical team would go nowhere. So, they packed up and moved to Colorado as “cannabis refugees.”
Riddle got her son a medical marijuana card and watched his health and smile return as his quality of life improved.
“Our hearts were filled with joy that cannabis brought back the smile to Landon’s face,” she added on his blog. “Landon started getting better and better! It was as if a miracle had happened! He was smiling again and started to eat again!”
Landon’s family watched as the side effects of Chemo seemed to lessen, his vomiting decreased to 10 times a day or less and his counts went up, but their move to Colorado didn’t provide the cannabis supporting doctors they had expected.
After five months of cannabis use and other natural remedies, Landon was in remission, but his doctors insisted that he should start chemo again. With the threat of losing her son, Riddle agreed to chemotherapy.
Although cannabis use had clear positive effects on Landon’s health, his doctors—like most others in this country—did not back the treatment as a proper way to treat cancer.
While Riddle didn’t lose her son or face charges, other families haven’t been so lucky. One Australian father is facing charges after using cannabis oil to treat his daughter’s cancer.
“It is atrocious that anyone on the planet would be charged for choosing cannabis over pharmaceuticals,” Riddle said.
“My heart goes out to Adam Koessler and Rumor Rose, along with uncountable other families that are affected by cannabis prohibition.”
Although Landon and Rumor Rose’s stories have garnered much attention, the fight to allow medical marijuana as treatment in child cancer patients is still an uphill battle. Despite the use of the drug in many adult cancer patients, many doctors still frown upon its use in children.
To parents in her situation, Riddle gives a word of advice.
“Get ready for the fight of your life. Having a sick child is a battle in itself, but making this choice is a whole new world,” she said. “You’re going to need thick skin, intuition, and a solid team. Don’t waste time making sure every other pharmaceutical does more harm than good. If it feels wrong in your gut, it’s probably wrong.”
